1. Why do you think Korean seaweed products are becoming more popular overseas?

 

Korean seaweed products are becoming more popular overseas because they taste so good. This should be the first, the best and the simplest reason. Seaweed is also environmentally sustainable and vegetarian food. Seaweed is farm-raised in oceans along mud flats and harvested by hand. I heard this is quite back-breaking work though, since this process creates huge income by exporting them so it’s worth it. Korean seaweed products also have various flavours, so you can have a lot of choices and this is really good for gifts and souvenirs as well.

 

2. What are some other major items produced in Korea and exported abroad?

 

I would say it is definitely Korean cosmetics, beauty products and fashion items. This is so popular not only for export but also as a souvenir. Tourists and visitors in Korea, especially Chinese people, are crazy for Korean beauty. I have heard tourists go shopping and buy it in bulk when they visit Korea. This is a good thing because more and more people would know about these products and buy them, so it is a really good thing for Korea and helps our economy as well. I can’t miss this. Of course, Kimchi must always be the best and major item exported abroad as well.
